Belleville man charged with murder in fatal shooting outside Tim Hortons in Van Buren Township

Edward Kuehn fatally shot in Van Buren Township

BELLEVILLE, Mich. – A Belleville man has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 38-year-old man outside a Tim Hortons restaurant in Van Buren Township.

Edward Kuehn was shot and killed Sunday morning in an altercation outside Tim Hortons at I-94 and Rawsonville Road, police said.

Police said Kuehn bought a coffee around 6 a.m. and returned to his car, where Mark Allen Germano, 44, of Van Buren Township, allegedly shot him twice in the head and neck and left the scene.

Officials said a witness, later identified as Germano's wife, called them and reported there was a victim in the parking lot and that the gunman had gone into the woods in the back of her home.

Officers contacted Germano and talked him out of the woods. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and a felony firearms violation.

Officials said Keuhn was a friend of Germano and his wife.

It is the first homicide in Van Buren Township in about two years, police said.

Germano is expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
