EAST LANSING, Mich. – A 29-year-old Inkster man was arrested Friday after police said he stole a purse from a woman who was getting into a car in Dearborn.
Dearborn police were called around 11:55 p.m. Friday to the area of Ternes and Arthur streets for a reported unarmed robbery.

A woman told police she had just gotten into her friend's vehicle when a man approached and took her purse from her lap.
A witness saw the man running from the scene and told police. Officers were able to arrest the man after a short foot chase.
Kevin Allen Pittiman Jr. was charged with unarmed robbery, larceny from a person, obstructing justice and habitual offender-fourth notice.
"The victim’s attention to detail regarding the suspect was very helpful in this case," Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said. "We are also grateful that a citizen took the initiative to contact the police immediately upon seeing suspicious activity. This combined with a great response time from my officers allowed us to remove a dangerous criminal from the streets."
Pittiman is being held on $100,000 bail and will be required to wear a GPS tether if he posts bond.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for June 16 and a preliminary exam is scheduled for June 23.
