He bought his winning ticket at the Summit Party Store at 32139 Plymouth Road in Livonia.

"I’ve been playing the lottery religiously for about 25 years," he said. "I've won a little here and there, but never anything close to this.

"I stopped at the Summit Party Store on my way home from work and the clerk told me they sold a jackpot winner and I needed to check my tickets. I called my wife and told her to look the tickets over. All of a sudden, she just said 'Oh, my God!'"

As he drove home, he said he had trouble accepting the fact that he’d won $1.2 million.

"It’s just unbelievable to finally win such a huge prize after all these years," he said. "It’s truly shocking."

The man chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $760,000, rather than an annuity. He said he plans to invest his winnings.

"Winning won’t change who we are, but it gives us some breathing room," he said.
