Vietnam vets who left Berkley High School early to fight awarded high school diplomas

Two Vietnam veterans were officially awarded their high school diplomas Thursday evening.

U.S. Air Force veteran Danny Brown and U.S. Army veteran Paul Carpenter both left Berkley High School to join the military during the Vietnam War.

The men are able to be awarded their diplomas because of a group of public acts that states a school board may award a high school diploma to qualified vets who left high school to serve in the war.

Brown would have graduated with the class of 1969, Carpenter with the class of 1971.
