At least 3 people dead at Michigan lakes over weekend
At least three people have died in Michigan lakes just this weekend.
Police say a 27-year-old Lansing man was found floating face-down Saturday night in Lake Michigan at Holland State Park. Yellow flags were flying at the time, a warning to swimmers that the water could be risky.
Deputies say at the time of the incident, waves were 1-2 feet high and water temperatures were 60 degrees.
Deputies were called to the park at 6:34 p.m. after a man was found floating face-down in the water, about 10 feet from the shore.
Across the state in Wayne County, a 61-year-old man drowned in Belleville Lake.
According to police, a call came in around 7:20 p.m. Saturday when a 61-year-old man went under the water near Horizon Park and did not resurface.
A 23-year-old woman disappeared while swimming at Clear Lake in St. Joseph County, 40 miles south of Kalamazoo.
Crews searched in 15-20 feet of water for hours before calling off the search Saturday night. Deputies say the search resumed at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
