Downed transformer sparks multiple fires on Detroit's east side; power outages reported

DETROIT – A downed transformer is believed to have caused multiple garage fires Wednesday morning near East Outer Drive and Van Dyke in Detroit. 

DTE Energy crews were at the scene in the 19000 block of Spencer. According to the utility company, about 30 customers were without power in the area. Power since has been restored. 

Fire crews responded quickly. They were able to contain and douse the flames.
