Robbery suspect in custody after escaping on Detroit's west side

Man escapes during sweep in Sixth Precinct


DETROIT – Detroit police have captured an unarmed robbery suspect who escaped custody during a sweep on the city's west side.

Police said officials were processing individuals around 4:55 p.m. Wednesday when one of the people escaped. He had been arrested on an armed robbery warrant.

He was taken into custody around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Detroit police searched the area around the Sixth Precinct trying to find him.
