56-year-old Detroit man with dementia goes missing in Southfield

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Southfield police are searching for a 56-year-old Detroit man with dementia who has been missing since Wednesday.

Michael Craig Thomas was reported missing Wednesday when he walked away from his brother's home in the 17000 block of Jeanette Street in Southfield.

Thomas has gone missing the past, but not for this long, his family said.

Thomas is known to walk to Detroit. He lives in the 3700 block of Maxwell Street on the city's east side. In the past, Thomas has been found in the area of Van Dyke and Charlevoix in Detroit and at a school near eastern market.

Thomas is 6 feet tall, weighs 165 pounds, has a slender build and a black and gray short Afro. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black jeans and flip flops.
