Motorcyclist dies in Lapeer County after collision with deer

NORTH BRANCH, Mich. – A motorcyclist was killed early Sunday when he hit a deer in North Branch.

According to police, a 61-year old Lum man was riding a motorcycle on Burnside Road near Slattery Road at 1:58 a.m. when he collided with a deer and was thrown off the bike. The man was not wearing a helmet, police said.

A driver found the man, police said, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The deer was dead on the side of the road.

Police said the area of the crash is very rural.

The crash remains under investigation, and alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor, police said.
