Energy Secretary Rick Perry was duped by a pair of Russian comedians after they engaged him in a 20-minute interview.
USA Today reports the Russians posed as Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman of Ukraine and appeared to speak through an interpreter throughout the interview. The exchange, which covered topics ranging from the Paris climate deal to fuel made from home-brewed alcohol and manure, was posted on the Russian website Vesti.
DOE Spokeswoman Shaylyn Hynes said these particular individuals are known for pranking high-level officials and celebrities. In 2015, the pranksters were successful in targeting Elton John, posing as Vladimir Putin.
