Man killed when car hits party bus on I-75 in Troy

TROY, Mich. – A man was killed Sunday morning when the car in which he was traveling in hit a party bus that was stopped on the shoulder of I-75, south of Adams Road in Troy.

Police said the bus was parked on the shoulder because of a mechanical issue when a yellow 2003 Pontiac Sunfire, which was traveling on the shoulder, hit it.

A passenger in the Sunfire, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver, also a 22-year-old man, had serious injuries and was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont hospital.

Eight of the 24 passengers on the party bus suffered minor injuries, police said. They were treated at St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac.

The crash remains under investigation. Police said drugs and/or alcohol may be factors in the crash.
