An immediate ban on jogging in groups has been imposed on the citizens of Sierra Leone after police say it "encourages disruptive behavior."
The Guardian reports the announcement, which says jogging in large numbers creates a "hint of menace," has caused some to become upset because they say the group outings have helped to curb violence within youth groups in the community.
"I believe there are more serious security issues you much be paying attention to," television personality Amadu Lamarana Bah wrote in a Facebook post. "Armed robbery and gang violence in communities should be your concern not those harmless youths who exercise on the weekends."
The police announcement said individuals are still welcome to jog for health reasons, but only at "recreational facilities or at the beach."
