Detroit Amber Alert: 2-year-old forcefully taken from aunt's home on city's west side

Sondra Renee was taken at about 2:30 a.m.


DETROIT – A 2-year-old was forcefully taken from her aunt’s home Tuesday morning on Detroit’s west side prompting an AMBER ALERT.

Sondra Renee was taken at about 2:30 a.m. from a home in the 21000 block of Karl Street.

Police said 42-year-old Grady Lamar Barrett went to the home with a weapon and took Sondra with him. He is not the biological parent and is the boyfriend of Sondra’s mother.

Barrett allegedly escaped in a black 2009 GMG Sierra with Michigan plate # DAS 8417 with a trailer attached to the truck with Michigan plate # D476667. The trailer also has a sign on the side with “G&G Landscaping Snow Removal and Grass Cutting.”

Barrett was described as a black man, 6 feet tall, weighs 278 pounds and is bald with a thick beard and mustache.

Sondra has brown eyes, braids and has a dark complexion.
