Fire breaks out at The Old Shillelagh in Downtown Detroit

Firefighters battled a fire Tuesday morning at The Old Shillelagh in Downtown Detroit.

Crews were called to the popular bar just before 6 a.m. at the corner of Monroe Avenue and Brush Street. Smoke could be seen coming from the roof of the building.

Fire officials said a stove was left on and caught fire. The flames spread to the floor of the kitchen.

Several roads in the area were briefly closed.

The bar will be closed and it is unclear when they will reopen.
