Double amputee's prosthetic legs crushed, damaged in hit-and-run crash in Westland

Richard Willis will need new legs

WESTLAND, Mich. – A man with two prosthetic legs is asking for help after a crash in Westland Tuesday crushed one of his legs and badly damaged the other.

Richard Willis was driving home from his job in Redford when he said another driver slammed into his car and totaled it. It appears that the driver who caused the crash doesn’t have insurance.

"I lost everything -- my car, my legs, my independence,” Willis said.

Willis said his insurance won’t cover his prosthetic legs or his car, so his friends set up a GoFundMe account to help him.

Donations to help Willis can be made here.
