15-year-old suspect in Springfield Township woman's murder found dead

Sheriff's Office: Teen's body found on railroad tracks in Holly

HOLLY, Mich. – A 15-year-old boy wanted in connection to the stabbing death of a woman Tuesday morning in Springfield Township has been found dead in nearby Holly. 

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said deputies were searching for the boy, identified as Steven Wilkerson, after a woman was found killed at a mobile home on Sleepy Hollow Boulevard in Oak Hill Estates near East Holly Road and Dixie Highway.

Deputies also were searching for the woman's 2006 four-door Pontiac G6. The vehicle was found in Holly. The boy's body was found on nearby railroad tracks. 

"It is obvious the body was struck by a passing train," the Sheriff's Office said in a news release. 

The Sheriff's Office said Holly police and CN Railroad Police are investigating the teen's death. 

Woman found stabbed to death

The Sheriff's Office said they received a call about 5:42 a.m. Tuesday about a woman being stabbed to death in Springfield Township. The caller said his son had left a note at his home saying he was going to kill his grandmother. The stabbing happened between midnight and 5:30 a.m. 

A large kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered by deputies at the home. 

The woman was 65 years old.
