Woman charged after allegedly leaving 2 children in car while gambling at Detroit MGM Casino

6-month-old girl, 2-year-old boy left alone for almost 2 hours

DETROIT – A 27-year-old mother was charged Tuesday in connection with leaving her 3-month-old daughter and 2-year-old son in a locked car while gambling at MGM Grand Casino.

Clelie Faith Choute, 27, of Pontiac, is charged with two counts of second-degree child abuse.

According to the Wayne County prosecutor's office, a security guard at the casino was notified about two children unattended in a vehicle on Aug. 19 at about 11:55 p.m. The security guard found a 2-year-old boy and a 6-month-old girl in the car.

Police said the windows were slightly cracked and covered with blankets. The children were in the vehicle for almost two hours.

Officers removed the children from the vehicle and released them to their father.

Choute was eventually located inside the casino and taken into custody.
