WESTLAND, Mich. – A woman was struck by a vehicle Friday morning on Merriman Road between Avondale Street and Palmer Road in Westland.
Police said the 26-year-old victim was struck around 4:15 a.m. She was taken to a nearby hospital by Westland firefighters.

She is listed in serious condition.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman stopped at the scene and was not injured. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the accident, police said.
That stretch of Merriman Road was shut down while police investigated.
Westland police are continuing to investigate the incident.
