1 killed in Redford Township home explosion
REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich – One person who was injured in a home explosion Wednesday in Redford Township has died, police said.
A 19-year-old Wixom resident died at an area hospital. A 26-year-old Redford resident and a 27-year-old Wixom resident are in critical condition, police said.
Police believe the house explosion on Woodworth Street may have been related to marijuana production in the home.
Police said a preliminary investigation revealed butane was being used in the processing of marijuana at the home.
The explosion happened about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday. Officials ruled out a utility-related issue, such as a natural gas leak.
