Police search for 24-year-old suspect in fatal shooting of roommate in Detroit


DETROIT – Police are searching for a 24-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting his roommate Tuesday in Detroit.

The shooting happened at about 11:20 a.m. in the 1900 block of Waverly Street.

According to police, Markeil Japree Welch got into an argument with his roommate and shot him.

Police said multiple shots were fired into the victim’s body after he had fallen to the ground.

The victim died on the way to the hospital.

Welch is described as black, 24 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 150 to 160 pounds and should be considered armed and dangerous.
