DETROIT – A man who was recorded scrapping from Detroit houses earlier this summer has been identified.
According to police, Duane Lanning, of White Lake Township, drove 34 miles to Detroit to scrap metal and rip houses apart.
A resident who lives near Woodward Avenue and West Nevada Street had captured a video of a man in a truck with out-of-state license plates ripping the siding off of a home. When Detroit police Lt. Rebecca McCay received a call about illegal scrapping at a house near East 7 Mile Road last week, she remembered the video.
McCay said she saw the Wyoming license plates and knew it was the man who was targeting houses before.
"Incidents like this are disturbing," McCay said.
