WALLED LAKE, Mich. – A man was taken into custody Friday after a barricaded situation that prompted a lockdown at one school and a shelter-in-place for another school in Walled Lake.

Police said the armed man barricaded himself near S. Commerce and Decker roads. He was taken into custody peacefully around 1:30 p.m.

St. Matthew Lutheran School in the 2400 block of S. Commerce Road was on lockdown during the barricaded situation.

Guest Elementary School was under a shelter-in-place, school officials said. They said they don't have lockdowns in their district because schools are always locked. The shelter-in-place meant there wouldn't be any outdoor activities.

Police had the intersection at S. Commerce and Decker roads closed from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
