Man trespasses on school property prompting police response in Dearborn Heights

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – An intoxicated man entered Annapolis High School Tuesday afternoon while trying to find his way home and returned the following day, prompting police to take him into custody, authorities said.

According to a release from the school district, a man entered at about 5 p.m. while multiple sports teams were practicing. Coaches kept the intruder occupied until the police arrived at the scene Tuesday. Officers drove the man to his home near the intersection of Annapolis Street and Inkster Road, where he was given a warning and told not to return to the school.

The man returned to the high school the following morning at about 7 a.m. and was unable to enter the locked building any further than the front vestibule. 

AHS security ushered him out of the building where school administrators followed him on foot in order to ensure the safety of the students. Police apprehended him near the intersection of Annapolis and Monroe streets.

He was charged with trespassing.Â
