Waterford teen in critical condition after being shot in head at White Lake home

Police say 18-year-old Waterford man was playing with gun when it discharged

WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Waterford teen is in critical condition after being shot in the head Sunday afternoon while visiting a home in White Lake Township, police said. 

White Lake Township police said the shooting happened about 1:15 p.m. at a 16-year-old boy's parents' house in the 6200 block of Grass Lake Road. An 18-year-old Waterford man at the home was playing with a gun which police said he claimed belongs to him.

The gun discharged and a bullet hit the 17-year-old in the head. The teen was transported to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital and is listed in "very" critical condition. 

Police are investigating.
