Shopper takes cart with baby by accident, prompts lockdown

Police said conduct didn't warrant criminal charge

A Maine shopper accidentally took a cart with a sleeping baby inside, causing the store to go into lockdown Friday.

The Associated Press reports that when the man realized his mistake, he left the cart in another part of the store instead of alerting anyone. When the grocery store staff was alerted to the missing child, they quickly locked down the store.

The baby was in a car seat and remained asleep for the duration of the incident. Police say the man's conduct didn't warrant criminal charges.
