Police say man connected to multiple purse thefts in Detroit

DETROIT – Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with several purses stolen from vehicles in Detroit.

According to police, one of the robberies happened outside a daycare in the 13000 block of 7 Mile Road.

Destiny Grant was dropping her daughter off at the daycare and forgot to lock her vehicle when she walked into the building. When she returned, she saw a man near her van, holding her things and carrying a gun.

The man pointed the weapon at Grant and walked backwards to a white 2009 Chrysler Town & County.

Grant left one her credit cards activated and it was later used at a Citgo gas station in the 15000 block of Greenfield Road. Police released surveillance video from the gas station showing the suspect making a purchase.

The man was described as black, late 20’s or early 30’s, 6 feet tall, weighs about 200 pounds and has a short fade haircut. He was last seen wearing a tan or gray jacket.
