Officers fire at suspects who are believed to have been armed

DETROIT – Police are searching for one last suspect, after officers fired at three men Tuesday near Hoover Street and State Fair Avenue on Detroit's east side.

UPDATE: Detroit police: Shots never fired at officers, but officer did fire at gunman

We're told the officers opened fire after they say one of the men was armed.

No officers were struck, but one officer did sustain a foot injury.

Officers were doing an investigation on Teppert Street involving a couple of young men during the time of the altercation.

Police arrested the armed suspect, and a man who stayed in the area. Police are now searching for a third suspect.

Officers set up a seven-block perimeter in the area overnight. There were close to 100 officers and two helicopters involved in the search.

Police used infrared to search for heat signatures that aren't moving in the neighborhood.

Anyone in the area is asked to stay inside.
