Man's body found 3 days after stabbing at Highland Park apartment building

Medical examiners say man was stabbed to death 3 days before body discovered

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – A maintenance worker made a shocking discovery when he let himself into a Highland Park apartment unit and found the resident dead.

It sparked a murder investigation police are calling "suspicious."

The body of the 62-year-old man was found behind a door at the apartment building on West McNichols.

Police believe the body was there for three days before the discovery was made.

Investigators went back into the building after a major twist in the case. The medical examiner first thought the man was shot to death due to marks on his body.

But after an autopsy Friday, medical experts said the man was stabbed to death. Nobody at the apartment complex said they heard anything.

Officials said they've been called to the third floor, where the man was killed, several times lately for a variety of reasons. Now neighbors are concerned that a killer is on the loose.
