Troy police said officers were called on a report of a possible homicide on Saturday, March 7, 2017 at about 6:14 p.m. They went to the rear of a building in the 2600 block of Industrial Row where they found Vigier-Cage dead in the car.

Police said Mullen, who was 24 at the time, was Vigier-Cage's ex-boyfriend and father to her 8-month-old son. He was arrested in Detroit the day after Vigier-Cage was found and charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm. A jury convicted him of those charges in September. He was sentenced Wednesday.

Vigier-Cage's family said she worked a full-time job and was taking classes at Oakland Community College. She dreamed of becoming a nurse.
