Detroit mother pleads for clues in murder of 6-month-old daughter
Miracle Murry fatally shot in April 2016
DETROIT – A Detroit mother pleaded for answers Tuesday in the fatal shooting of her 6-month-old daughter as authorities continue their search for the gunman.
Miracle Murray was shot and killed at about 1:30 p.m. April 16, 2016. She was with her family in the front yard of their home in the 18000 block of Winthrop Street on Detroit’s west side.
Several other children were outside in the yard when a gunman appeared from across Clarita Avenue and started firing.
Miracle’s mother, Jennifer Murray, grabbed Miracle and ran into the house. Once inside, she saw blood and realized that her daughter wasn't moving. Miracle was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead.
Police said there may have been a connection between Miracle’s fatal shooting and a shooting that killed a 3-year-old girl on Easter Sunday of 2016. A’naiya Montgomery was fatally shot while in her mother’s arms.
Jennifer Murray’s son, Reginald Street, was charged in connection with the shooting on Easter Sunday and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and felony firearms violations.
Detroit police questioned two men in connection with Miracle’s death. Both were released.
