Pittsfield Township woman fatally shot

Woman was allegedly shot by her romantic partner, authorities say


PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A woman was detained Saturday after the fatal shooting of a Pittsfield Township resident.

According to authorities, police responded to a complaint regarding a gun going off. Shortly after officers arrived, the situation was reported to police to asa confirmed shooting.

The victim has been identified as Shantel Johnson-Jackson, a 27-year-old resident of Pittsfield Township. She was transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and died shortly after. 

The suspect is 27-year-old Ashley Somerville, who was involved in a romantic relationship with Jackson and had called to report the shooting, according to police. She has been taken into custody pending arraignment.
