Steel company responsible for explosion-like boom Downriver

DETROIT – A steel company confirmed it was responsible for a loud boom Saturday that led many Downriver residents to believe something had exploded.

According to a representative from Levy Steel Co., sometimes when rain and hot slag combines, it causes a reaction.

The reaction caused no damage or injuries, and there wasn't a fire.
