Monroe police seek information after victim's shoes stolen in robbery

Suspect brandished knife during incident, police say

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe police are asking for information after a victim's shoes were stolen during an armed robbery Saturday afternoon.

Police were dispatched at 4:41 p.m. to the 1300 block of Arbor Street regarding an armed robbery that happened in the area of Greenwood and Michigan avenues.

Police said the suspect brandished a knife during the robbery.

Initial reports indicated that the robber demanded the juvenile victim's red, yellow and orange colored Nike Foamposite tennis shoes, police said.

The victim complied with the robber's demands. Police said there were no injuries reported.

The robber is described by police as a white male who is 15 to 16 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, heavyset and wore a black zipper-type jacket with gray sweatpants and blue shorts under the sweatpants.

Police said the robber was last seen entering an older, dark-colored four-door sedan and fleeing the scene northbound on Arbor Street.

The suspected vehicle was occupied by several people. Police said an eyewitness described one of the vehicle occupants as wearing a red and white knit pom-style stocking cap.
