Armed robbery reported at University of Michigan's West Quad dorm

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security(U-M DPSS) has issued a crime alert after an armed robbery was reported on the university's Ann Arbor campus.

Police said three males entered a resident's room at the West Quad residence hall (541 Thompson Street) around 9 p.m. Monday. An hour after the males entered the room, police say two students were assaulted by the males and during the assault one of the suspects showed a black handgun and demanded property from a third student. The male suspects then fled on foot.

Witnesses describe the suspects as:

  • Black male, 6 feet tall, light complexion, thin build, with a tattoo on his neck, clean fade haircut, wearing a black windbreaker coat.
  • Black male, dark complexion, large build, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 18-20 years, wearing a black hooded coat.
  • Black male, 18-20 years, 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing a black knit winter cap, dark gray and burgundy striped sweater
