Motorists suffer minor injuries

PAW PAW, Mich. – The first significant snowfall in Michigan has also brought the first major freeway pileup of the year.

The westbound lanes of I-94 were closed Thursday morning after a 32-vehicle crash near Paw Paw.

Michigan State Police troopers say the crash happened at about 9:15 a.m. at exit 66 for Mattawan.

Several people suffered minor injuries, but none are considered life-threatening, according to MSP.

All westbound lanes of I-94 were shut down and have since reopened.

MSP urged drivers to be extra cautious on Michigan freeways and to allow extra space between vehicles as snow begins to blanket the state.
