Police: 4 shot at Bar 7 in Southfield; 1 man in critical condition, 2 people arrested

Shooting stemmed from altercation at bar, police say

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Four people were shot early Saturday morning at a bar on 12 Mile Road in Southfield, police said.

Officers were called to Bar 7 on 12 Mile Road at about 12:44 a.m. on the report of shots fired. Police said they found three people suffering gunshot wounds to their chests. A fourth person had been shot in the arm. Two victims were found at Bar 7 while the other two were across the street. 

Police said the shooting stemmed from an altercation between two groups at the bar. Someone pulled out a handgun and began shooting. 

Two people were arrested, including one of the people who was shot, police said. 

Among the victims was a 23-year-old Detroit man who suffered a gunshot wound to his chest. He is in critical condition at a hospital. Two 37-year-old Detroit men also were shot in the chest but they are listed in stable condition at a hospital. Police said they are conscious and alert. 

A 30-year-old Detroit man who was shot in his forearm was arrested along with another suspect, police said. 

A Bar 7 representative told Local 4 and ClickOnDetroit the shooting did happen inside the bar. He said the bar is open on Saturday.

The bar is located near the corner of 12 Mile and Telegraph Roads.
