Police: 6-year-old girl drowns at indoor pool in Bloomfield Township

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 6-year-old girl drowned at an indoor pool inside a home in Bloomfield Township Thursday night.

Police said she was taken to St. Joesph's Hospital and was pronounced dead.

Police believe the drowning was accidental. Here's more info from police:

At 8:50 PM on January 11, 2018, Bloomfield Township Police Officers and Bloomfield Township Paramedics responded to a report of a drowning in the 1700 block of Morningside Way in Bloomfield Township. 

Upon arrival, Officers found family members performing CPR on the 6-year-old granddaughter of the homeowner.  The girl was rushed to St Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac where efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.

Initial findings suggest the girl entered the indoor pool area of the home and was alone when she went into the water. It is unknown how long she was in the pool before she was discovered.  

The incident is under investigation by the Bloomfield Township Police Department.
