DTE Energy crews went to the location to make repairs when they found the woman had touched the live wire in an area roped off by yellow caution tape, the company said.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the woman's family," DTE said in a statement. "This is a sad reminder of the importance of staying at least 20 feet away from any down wire and assume that it is live. We are working with Detroit police to investigate."

DTE Energy is working with the Detroit Police Department on the case.
