ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – A 21-year-old man from Troy was killed in a single-car crash early Sunday morning in Rochester Hills.
Two other men were hurt and remain in critical condition.
The three were all employed at Loccino in Troy. They finished work about 11:30 p.m. Saturday and left together. Less than an hour later, the crash took place.
The driver, a 21-year-old from Troy, was heading east on South Boulevard near Fredmoore Drive, behind the wheel of a 1988 Dodge Daytona. Police said he crossed the center line, lost control and rammed into a ditch, hitting a utility pole.
Another 21-year-old Troy man who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was killed. The other two were taken to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
Managers at Loccino said the men were hardworking and they went out of their way to help others. The two 21-year-olds bused tables and the 55-year-old man worked in the kitchen.
The victim who died had worked at the restaurant for more than two years, and his two younger brothers work there as well, people at Loccino said.
The restaurant employs about 30 people in all. Management said everyone there is a family, and they’re devastated by the tragedy.

Deputies and the city of Rochester Hills Fire Department responded to the report of a single-vehicle crash that took place on eastbound South Boulevard near Fredmoore Drive.
A crash investigator from the OCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit went to the scene. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, the Sheriff's Office said.
A search warrant was obtained for a blood sample from the driver. The blood sample will be forwarded to the Michigan State Police for a toxicology report. The driver was taken into custody. Criminal charges are pending. The incident remains under investigation.
