DETROIT – “He loved Detroit and everyone loved him,” Michael Webb’s son said Thursday.
Michael Webb’s family is pleading for help in finding their father, their son, their brother’s murderer.
“Whoever did this, I would love for you to have some kind of heart and just give us some peace,” Webb's mother Sheila Chieves said.
On May 26, Webb returned to the business he co-owned, the El Capri Lounge, to get his house keys. It was 4:30 in the morning when he went inside and interrupted a burglary. Webb was fatally assaulted and left to die. One unknown suspect exited the lounge.
“Watch the video, look at the video,” Oliver Gantt, Webb’s friend, said. “Pay attention to what the suspect was wearing in the video.”
The Webb family said whoever did this to Michael knew exactly where the cash was located and went right to it. The suspect did not take anything else.
“What you took from here did add up to what you stole from us,” Chieves said.
Webb’s family is hoping someone knows something so Webb’s killer can be brought to justice. It won’t bring back the father of three and grandfather of three, but it will bring some closure.
“Help us find this guy and put him away,” Chieves said.
A $2,500 reward is being offered for a tip that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about the murder is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800speakup.org or 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
