19-year-old woman carjacked at gunpoint in Harper Woods

Police searching for Ford Explorer, 3 suspects


HARPER WOODS, Mich. – A 19-year-old woman was carjacked at gunpoint Tuesday night in the 20600 block of Beaconsfield Street, police said. 

Harper Woods police officers were dispatched about 10 p.m. on the report of a carjacking. The woman told officers three suspects approached her and one of them was armed with a handgun. They demanded the keys to her 2005 Ford Explorer.

She handed over the keys and the suspects drove away in the car northbound on Beaconsfield Street. The woman was not injured. 

The Explorer had Michigan license plate DVP-7212. Police said the woman described her vehicle as having a loud muffler, green and orange bungee cords on the roof rack, and light rust near the wheel wells.

Police have not recovered the carjacked vehicle. Detectives are actively working on identifying the suspects involved. Police did not offer a description of the suspects.
