DETROIT – Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby had a day he'll want to forget. He missed his first four field goal attempts and an extra point in a 31-23 loss to the Detroit.
After missing three field goals for the first time in his career in the first half, Mason hit the left upright on an extra point to let the Detroit Lions cling to a 31-20 lead early in the fourth quarter. After missing another FG attempt, Crosby finally made one with 7 second remaining, a 41-yarder.
The Detroit Lions have forced mistakes and taken advantage of some, helping them lead the Green Bay Packers 24-0 at halftime.
Two-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers lost two of Green Bay's three fumbles over the first two quarters. The superstar quarterback has lost two fumbles in a game for just the third time in his 14-year career.
And, Mason Crosby missed three field goals for the first time in his 12-year career. Detroit's LeGarrette Blount ran for a pair of 1-yard touchdowns in the first quarter. Matthew Stafford connected with Marvin Jones for an 8-yard TD with 15 seconds left in the first half.
Tennessee Titans starting left tackle Taylor Lewan has not returned for the start of the second half against Buffalo after hurting his foot late in the second quarter.
Lewan was not spotted on the sideline, and he was replaced by Tyler Marz. The Titans listed Lewan's return as being questionable. He's a two-time Pro Bowl selection and missed Tennessee's second game of the season with a concussion that knocked him out of the season opener.
Odell Beckham Jr. finally has a touchdown -- passing that is. Beckham, who has been openly critical of the Giants' offense this season, caught a lateral from Eli Manning and lobbed a long pass down the other side of the field to a wide-open Saquon Barkley, who outran Panthers linebacker Jermaine Carter Jr. to the end zone for a 57-yard score, cutting Carolina's lead to 17-10 in the second quarter.
Beckham celebrated the TD wildly on the sideline. He has had an active day with three catches for 45 yards but still doesn't have a touchdown catch this season.
The Jaguars are down to two healthy running backs after Corey Grant left their game against Kansas City with a foot injury. Leonard Fournette was already inactive with a hamstring injury.
The Chiefs are in similar shape at outside linebacker, where Justin Houston is questionable to return with a hamstring injury and Tanoh Kpassagnon is questionable with an ankle injury.
Despite heavy rain, the field has held up remarkably well at Arrowhead Stadium, and only a couple of players had slipped as the Chiefs built a 13-0 lead late in the first half.
Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby has missed three field goals in a game for the first time in his 12-year career.
Crosby pulled a 41-yard attempt to the left in the first quarter. He hit the right upright on a 42-yard kick and missed one to the right in the second quarter.
The usually reliable kicker had made 10 of 11 field goals this season and hadn't missed two attempts in a game in nearly five years. He has missed just three of 29 field goal attempts in his postseason career.
Mason's misses helped the Lions lead 17-0 late in the second quarter.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has finally thrown his first interception this season. Mahomes dropped back to pass with 4:21 left in the first half against Jacksonville, and his throw over the middle sailed high. The Jaguars' Tashaun Gipson, who boasted this week about becoming the first to intercept the Chiefs quarterback, was there to haul it in.
Mahomes threw a pick in his only start last year at Denver, but the first-year starter had thrown 14 touchdown passes without an interception this season.
Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey is back after taking a knee to the helmet early against Kansas City, but his return hasn't exactly helped the league's top-ranked defense.
The Chiefs drove 73 yards for a touchdown on their first possession, then marched 82 yards for a field goal on their second. They lead the Jaguars 10-0 early in the second quarter.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is 10 of 16 for 110 yards and has run for 15 yards and a touchdown. Sammy Watkins has three catches for 51 yards after being questionable with a hamstring injury.
Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey has left the Jaguars' game against Kansas City after taking a knee to the helmet while tackling Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in the first quarter.
Ramsey lay for a moment before walking off without any help, and he watched Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes scramble for a touchdown two plays later.
It was the first score allowed by Jacksonville's top-ranked defense on an opponent's opening possession this season, and only the fifth TD the Jaguars have allowed overall.
The Tennessee Titans have given up their first points in the first quarter this season, and it came after losing their first fumble of the season.
Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen capped an 11-play 47-yard drive by diving headfirst into the end zone on a 14-yard scramble.
The scoring drive was set up after rookie linebacker Tremaine Edmunds stripped the ball from receiver Taywan Taylor, and the fumble was recovered by Matt Milano.
The Titans had not lost a fumble this season. And they had combined to outscore their opponents 23-0 in the first quarter this season.
Weather could be an issue in Kansas City, where Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' high-flying offense will face the Jacksonville Jaguars' top-ranked defense at soggy Arrowhead Stadium.
Rain fell all morning, and at one point warmups were interrupted for a couple of minutes. But mostly it's just a gray, drizzling mess that could make footing tricky and passing difficult.
That could be good news for the Jaguars, who have the league's No. 1 pass defense. But then again, the Chiefs still have the NFL's reigning rushing champ, Kareem Hunt, ready to roll.
New York Jets defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers is not with the team for its game against the Denver Broncos as he deals with what coach Todd Bowles has called a "serious" illness.
Bowles is expected to call the defensive plays from the sideline Sunday. Neither Bowles nor the team has provided any details on the illness sidelining the 49-year-old Rodgers. It's unclear when he might be able to return to work.
Rodgers was scheduled to meet with reporters Thursday for his weekly news conference, but the team said he had a medical appointment and would speak the next day. On Friday, a visibly concerned Bowles announced that Rodgers was sick and not at the facility.
When asked if Rodgers was dealing with something serious, Bowles responded: "He's a tough guy. It's a serious thing."
