Police say driver lost control, struck patrol car

A Michigan State Police patrol vehicle was struck by a driver who lost control of a vehicle on I-696 near Novi. (WDIV)

NOVI, Mich. – A Michigan State Police sergeant was injured Tuesday when a driver lost control of a vehicle and struck a patrol car in the center median of I-696 near Novi, police said.

Officials said the sergeant was inside the patrol car doing paperwork around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday when the driver struck the sergeant's vehicle.

The sergeant was taken to Providence Park Hospital in Novi with minor injuries, police said.

Officials said the sergeant has been released from the hospital.

The other driver was taken to the hospital by emergency medical officials in an unknown condition, according to officials.
