Traffic: I-75 lane closure 🚧

Construction season strikes again! The hits keep coming ... all summer long.

There will be a lane closure today along northbound I-75 at Belford Road in Oakland County. Then we're looking at a list of closures coming up Friday and into the weekend, most notably southbound I-75 at I-94.

Neighbors against Ford ⚠️

Residents in the Alden Village neighborhood in Livonia say Ford Motor Company is "putting them through hell." They say the automaker's nearby Transmission Plant has been leaking cancer-causing chemicals into the neighborhood just south of Plymouth Road. Families are demanding action from Ford. A news conference is planned for this morning at one of the homes.

Postal Service job fair 📮

The U.S. Postal Service is organizing several job fairs at Detroit area locations. The first one is today in Troy. Head to the Bellingham Facility -- 2351 Bellingham Drive -- between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to learn more about available positions and how to apply.

Telegraph Road construction meeting 🚧

Beginning in August, MDOT will be resurfacing US-24 (Telegraph Road) between Pennsylvania Road and Dix-Toledo Road during weekends. During work, one lane of US-24 will be open in one direction while the other direction is closed and detoured via I-75 and Dix-Toledo Road, four weekends for each direction. MDOT is hosting an open house meeting today from 4-6 p.m. at the Brownstown Event Center on King Road.

UM-Flint, UM-Dearborn funding demands 💰

Students and instructors from the University of Michigan community will give public comment to the Board of Regents today as they deman greater funding and long-term support for the U-M Flint and U-M Dearborn campuses. The news conference is planned for 2:30 p.m.

World's largest swim lesson 🏊

The "world's largest" swimming lesson is today! You ca join in this afternoon at the Wayne County Family Aquatic Center. Registration begins at 4 p.m., and you must be registered to participate.

How is it the world's largest? Well, events will be held at aquatic centers across the world today with an estimated 600 locations in more than 20 countries. That's a lot of people learning to swim all at once, so now is as good a time as any for you to jump in!

Burger Battle Detroit returns 🍔

Returning for its eighth year, Burger Battle takes over Eastern Market on Sunday, June 23 for burgers, cheeseburgers, and more burgers.
