Weather: High 81°, Low 66°

Expect a mosltly cloudy day today with showers possible tonight. There are a lot of Metro Detroit lawns and plants that could use a little rain. While some of us got drenched earlier this week, most of us didn't see much, if any, rain.

Right now, the weekend could have some wet weather. Dream Cruisers will want to keep an eye on the radar. We'll keep you updated!

Traffic: Westbound I-94 to close this weekend 🚧

Heads up: Crews will be repairing pavement on I-94 in Detroit this weekend. This work will require closing westbound I-94 from I-96 to US-12 (Michigan Avenue) starting at 9 p.m. today. All lanes of the freeway are expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19. This work has created quite the headache for people traveling across the region. Be patient.

ALSO: There will be closures this weekend on southbound Lodge Freeway in Detroit -- here's what to know.

Check the live Traffic Map here.

I-94 bridge, road repair project near DTW 🚧

We have to stick with traffic here because also on I-94, and also starting tonight, both sides of the interstate will be reduced from three lanes to one lane each between US-24 and I-275 this weekend to complete work on the shoulders, which will be used as temporary lanes through the fall. It all gets underway tonight -- weather permitting, of course. Fun! 🙄

32 years ago: Northwest Flight 255 crashes

On August 16, 1987, Northwest Flight 255 crashed shortly after taking off from Detroit Metropolitan Airport, killing 156 people. The flight was headed to California when it left the gate in Detroit. The DC-9 Super 82 pilots forgot to conduct their pre-flight checks, as a result, the warning system never turned on.
