4 things to watch for -- Thursday, October 17th

Kim DeGiulio: Hope you're having a great week. Are you over the Lions loss yet? I'm not! It's going to take a while. I know we've all talked about how the refs were awful to us but another takeaway I wanted to mention was what a class act Trey Flowers was during and after that game. I mean if I was him, I'd be going ballistic! He expressed his displeasure with the calls each time to the refs but after that he went right back to work. He also seemed so calm in the locker room after the game. I think we can all learn from the way Trey Flowers acted. If I had kids, he's the kind of athlete I would want my kids looking up to.

This week is my mom's birthday, so we've been doing a little celebrating!! Tuesday night my family met up for dinner at the Huron River hunting and fishing club. The dinner was delicious! My grandpa has been a member there since the 1960s! He sometimes takes us there on special occasions. It was so nice to get together and celebrate her. My mom's official birthday is the 17th.

It's going to be an exciting weekend here in downtown Detroit because this Sunday is the Detroit Free Press Marathon. I started training to run the half-marathon over the summer but unfortunately I got a hip injury while training, so I decided not to run it. My hip is fine but it just needed some time to rest, so I didn't want to push it. Instead of running the half-marathon, this year I'll be reporting on it! I'll be reporting live this Sunday from the race so if you see me, come say hi!! Good luck you if you're running. It looks like it's going to be a great day!

All Morning -- On the Chilly Side

Brandon Roux: Thursday will be on the chilly side too with morning lows in the 30s to low 40s under mostly cloudy skies. We should get a decent mix of sun and clouds with gusty winds WNW 10-20 mph and highs only in the low to mid 50s. It's clear and cool Friday morning in the 30s and we welcome back frosty possibilities, but the sun will take highs to near 60°F to end the work and school week.
