Detroit police seek suspect after man found fatally shot on city’s west side

Victim’s body found in garage on Winthrop Street


DETROIT – Detroit police need help finding a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting Oct. 7 on the city’s west side.

Police said the victim, a 51-year-old man, was found about 4:10 p.m. in the back of a garage in the area of 19500 block of Winthrop Street.

Through investigating, police determined a suspect involved in the shooting frequents the areas of West 7 Mile Road and the Southfield Freeway and West 7 Mile and Meyers roads.

The suspect is described as a black man with a medium-brown complexion. He is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 195 pounds. He has brown eyes and black and gray hair. Police said the man was last seen wearing a red and black sweater, dark blue jeans and red Puma gym shoes.
