DETROIT – Gusty winds and rain in southeast Michigan knocked out power for some DTE Energy customers Thursday evening.
As of 9 p.m., 2,000 customers were without power. DTE anticipates that number will increase as winds pick up speed overnight.
The company said it has crews stationed across the region to respond to hazards, including downed power lines.
If you see a downed wire, stay at least 20 feet away from the wire and anything it could be in contact with. All downed lines should be considered live and energized. DTE also advises people to never cross yellow caution tape, as it means there is a downed line in the area.
Report a downed line to DTE by calling 800-477-4747 or visiting dteenergy.com.
