DETROIT – Authorities busted an organized retail crime ring in Metro Detroit after an eight month investigation.
According to Michigan State Police, a business owner bought more than $6,000 of what he believed was stolen merchandise from an undercover detective.

Search warrants were executed at the man’s business and home after multiple undercover operations and hours of surveillance. Police seized about $15,000 worth of stolen merchandise and about $300,000 in cash.
Police said the man would recruit people to steal from stores. The stolen goods would be resold or used.
An investigation is ongoing.
