Metro Detroit weather: Rain transitions to snow ahead of cold Friday morning

Temps will be below average

DETROIT – Rain has transitioned to snow and will hang around through part of the overnight. Even though we’re not expecting any accumulation on streets or driveways, snow could cover some grassy areas by morning.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect through 4 a.m. Wind gusts will peak around 45 mph, then subside a bit toward the morning commute.

Temperatures will range from the upper 20s to mid-30s for the Friday morning commute. Skies will be partly cloudy. Even with that sunshine, temperatures stop in the mid-40s, well below normal for this time of year.

We will stay dry until Saturday morning. That’s when we’re expecting a batch of light snow showers, and possibly an afternoon area of rain. But most of the weekend should be dry. Temperatures stay chilly into next week.
